From Mom. Here is her life story in her own words: Original document in possession of Laurence Lee Pitt.

The first thing I remember I was two years old, Daddy was moving two rooms from the lower well, I was standing in the door of the house daddy was moving. He spanked me and made me get back so I would't fall out and get hurt.

The second thime I remember I was five years old. God showed me a pricture of hell, I went to mother she was asleep, she spanked me and sent me back to bead. also when I was five years old Daddy snt me to herd the cows. I fell off the horse and couldn't get back on I gathered up the cows, led the horse and went home, daddy whipped me put me back on the horse and I had to take the cows back out. when I got home the second time my syster Mila was born.

I herded cows, hoed in the garden, helped Ester cook, gathered eggs, shelled corn, packed water, etc.

I remember mother having incubators to hatch baby chicks. One time Rachel and Mae had to clean the incubator so they dug a hold put all the rotten eggs in it, covered them up with dirt. Then made me tramp the dirt while they sang a song about me have a silk, Organdy dress. My dress was so pretty I called it silk. that afternoon I cried so hard mother took me with her to see Aunt Lina.

Fro the time I was fiveyears old I had to keep cows from going over a hum, Rachel kept running them over the hump so I took my stick and struck it in some cow blank and through it on her. Rachel ran to mother here comes mother really mad. I ran and climbed up a big willow tree it was after dark, Daddy came and got me. I got a big whipping, mother made me to to bed without supper, but Mae sneaked me some bread and milk. Another thime I was washing the butter, I dropped it mother made me go to bed without supper, again Mae sneaked me something to eat.

As I wrote I had to shell corn on winter I had to keep the barn doors locked on a count of Uncle John and Uncle Albert. I was so gland when Daddy mad them leave. Uncle Gus always helped me pack the water, wood, Coal, etc. I alway was glad to see him.

I was eight years old, out hoeing the watermelon when Fred got hold of me. He never raped me but he molested me from that time on, till he left. from that time on I was sort of scared of men.

We always went to churhc on Sundays. Many a sunday I went bare footed. We always went to the Revivals, Oh how I enjoyed them. I was baptized when I was twelve years old. One sunday morn I had maes watch to get the cows in by nine o'clock so I could go to church. I lost thge wath and it was fund about sixty years later at the gate.

When I was nine years old mother sent me with Rachel and Fred to find a cow that got lost, mother said for me to stay with Rachel but instad fred told me to go one way, Rachel another, He another. Well I obeyed Fred and I heard Rachel screaming for help. When I turned around to go to her a anake appeared with a man's head on it, Luaughing,. I tried to go around it, but it would't let me . Rachel was raped, a I never knwo why mother whipped me from then on til I was fourteen. When a man saw mother beating me and asked what I had done, I said I did't know. He told mother he had better not catch her beating me again. I never told anyone about the snake as it told me it would kill lme if I did. Well, from that time til I was fourteen I could tell lies and think they were true. Praise God, at a revival, I gave my heart ot Jesus and that helped me.

Afer Ray and I was married, I put together the births of Vonetta and the Grathing and I understood mother then. Mother would get mad if Boys came to see us, so I just had on date before I met and married Raymond. When I was 21 years old something spider or a snake bit my foot. I felt the sting, but the Sunday school class wa going to Kansas city, to swoop part. After we got home the cows were in the corn field so we had to run them out, milk, etc. wWe had beans to pck, I tried, but kept getting really sick. I told mother, They took me to the doctor. He told them to take home anjd let me die. I was that bad, I was in bed from Octover twenty third until april mr. Brother chitwood and tow other men came down and prayed for me one Sunday. On Tuesday I was up and walkiing. But while I was in bed all those months, Rose connard, his wife and hes hired hand, Dave shandik came over most every night. I had Ester to sit between me and Dave, as he just sat and stared at me, and mother wanted me to marry him! Ugh! he wuild have beat me up as Ross did his wife and kids.
Mae bought me a pair of shoes. She and Rachel bought cloth, so mother made me a beautiful dress.

Ester married Babe, Mile went to work, Anna went to work, They both worked in Kansas City. ADa was in School, I was with Mother and Daddy, A lady wanted me to help her with her housework, so mother made me go. I was twenty-three years old but I never wnted to go, but she said go. I went and I regretted it to this day. Nothing bad happened, I just didn't want to leave home. I got sick, was operated on for appendix, mae came home and brought me back to wyoming with her. I went home for about three months, came back out here and been here, ever since. ‎( Except when Ray and I went back and on into colorado, I married Raymond three days after I met him but I was in such a state of mind as I was told I wasn't fit to go to an assembly of god church. I rightly couldn't think like I should of, Although Raymond gave me a lot of happy memories and a lot of sad ones.

I forgot to write about the old mean sow. I was supposed to pick up corn cobs, she took after me, I ran up to the old barn, daddy hipped me again, as the barn was dangerous. it was falling down. While mae and Anna pcked up the cobs, I kept the sow after me. We had to pick up cobs every night so we could have a fire to fix breakfast.

I quit school as I hated school with a passion. i was in the tenth grade. The teacher had her pets. She loved me, out of her sight. I quit. It just made me sick to think of school, and I mean I'd get sick.

Then mother made me get breakfast for fifteen people. I'd get up every morning at four-thirty. One morning I said to
Fred " This is all the flour and I don't know what to do. " put his arm arough me and sid that Lord woul provide. Well, Fred wnt to Rich hill and Robbed a Grocery Store of Flour, Sugar, Coffee, etc. He even got us kids some candy.

I had to ride a horse around and around the corn field draging a log to keep the chinch bugts from getting into the corn. As the buds came in drives. Those depression years were terrible but God was good to us. Mother would gather weeds that were eatable and cook them. But on Sunday we always had a good dinner. I remember on day we had chicken and pie. Well Rachel looked out at the garden and said there is chickens in the garden. I wnet to chase them out but couldn't find any after the 4 th time mother gave rachel my piece of chicken and pie, then Rachel said well daddy plowed them under everyone hot a big laugh out of it except me, I had to go with chicken and pie but I had plenty of sweet potatoes and chicken gravy and I still like sweet potatoes and chicken gravy to eat.

Today is sunday and as I'm getting ready for church I remember going to church and oh how happy I was, I still in my mind can picture brother durbin preaching at those tent meetingsl out sunday shcool was in a school house, oh those sundays were so wonderful. I praise God that mother and daddy saw we were brought up in church that's the life. I wish Raymond went to churh with me and the kids, although the church people hurt me so bad but God says forgive and I sure am trying. Raymond stepped out on me, that was the second time the snake appeared to me, laughing well, Barbara got in trouble. The Judge gave her Raymond to look after. He brought her to our bed. She had to sleep in the middle and I had to watch them have sex. One morning I thought I couldn't take it any longer and I was going to kill myself by drinking lysol, as I went to drink it, Raymond screamed, "Don't Mama!." He couldn't have seen me, as I was in the kitchen he and Barbara was in the Bedroom. Another time I was goin to kiill myself, we were coming back from Missouri and I was going to jump out of the car, but raymond said, " Mama, Don't do it." He put his arms around me, I don't know hwat I was rally doing as God had shoed me a picture of hell. That is where I would be if god hadn't warned Raymond, and I'd left four babies for someone else to look after, how wonderrful God is as Satan tried to kill me since he did't succeed. He has tried to kill me with sickness, God has always come through for me. and I can't help but praise god and praise god some more. I don't wnat to go to hell and I don't want any of my children or grandchildren to go there. Well, I don't want to see anyone go to hell.

I think the hardest thing in my life was when I found out Raymond was molesting the girls. Anna came and took Marsha back to Missouri with her, Then Marvin came out and took Mila, Sharla and Glenn back, Oh, that was terrible. I tried to leave Raymond but I god sick and we had cows to milk, sheep, and chicken, to tend to. Although later, I was getting ready to go, fell and broke my ankle. It was still in a cast when I had to have a Gall bladder operation. so I had to stay. Although Mila and sharla were home, at the time. but I didn't wnat to give them up. So daddy sold the farm and we paid cotton's bills for this house. after moving into town, I worked for the fremont hotel til it burned down. then I went to work at the state shcool. There I fill and broke the upper part of my back. The docktor said I also injured a valve in my heart. We had nothing to eat but rick and beans, So I asked the doctor to releas me to go back to work. I again fell and broke the upper part of my bakc , no release this time. Daddy and I did alot of traveling. We went from coast to coast. I also wne with data to shear sheep. Raymond also worked on the oil rigs. We moved to Big piney and lived there til the Rig shut down. In 1972. aftere I got hurt at the state school Raymond and I moved Powell, where he worked on a rig. We lived in a camper trailer. Oh, it was cold. The boss made Raymond bring me home. Daddy and I went elk hunting in the camper. He brought three men to sleep and as usual he had to have sex and I had to go potty. A man brought me home the nex morning. I've always been grateful to that man. God bless him. but that's not the only time he had to have sex in front of people. You might say, "You let him. I learned not to say no. "

I have been sick, most of my life, but I never tried to let on. I've had blook poisoning, gall bladder operationl, appendicitice, now I've a pace maker, also I choke alot. I hurt my back real bad. I've had broken ribs, praise god he has seen me through them all. I could write alot about being sick, but maybe I wasn't sick, just lazy and thought I was sick.

I sure dreaded moving back here to Lander. I was on cruthes and in a wheelchair at the time. So daddy sold the hogs, ows then had a public sale and got rid of everything. He was happy, as he hated the farm, and he was sick all the time also.
I worked in cafe's, hotel, cleaned houses for people, took in washing and ironing, took care of Rich folks, etc. to help make a living. My bad heart aches where raymond and the girls, A preacher saying I wasn't fit for the church, another preacher telling another preacher not to speak to me and having to work outside the home and the way Raymond's folks treated me. but now, praise God i can go to church, which is my life, my joy, my everything, because that is wht god is to me. I'm contented to be in my home, and I love my Lord so much. I can talk to him whenever I wnat to, without people hearing me.

Shara came from washinton and stayed seven months caring fo me as the doctgor didn't want me to be by myself.

Now when lawrence was bornk ray was going to cheyenne with his dad, his uncle frnak stepped in and made raymond stay home. so he went fishing, caught a small one and brought it to the hospital for mem to see. When glenn was bron ray took me to the hospital, but when Gary was born, the doctor took me to the hospital, Marsha was born in Missouri. I was told daddy took his gun and made Raymand stay with me. When Mila was born, Mildred Crawford took me to the hospital, When Sharla was born, Daddy and Orley went to worland. I was having labo pains, as sharla was born at home. Laurence and Roy were there except, Roy went after the doctor. Daddy came back the same day, but to late to help me. My children have given me so much joy.

The summe I went to Randy's tent meetings wes alot of happiness. I went with Mona, Thelma and Valerie. God blessed me alot. I took Rnady and candy in my home. Candy always wanted me to go along with them. I went to Oregonl California, Nevada and Idaho with them.

My happiness, my joy.
1st when I was called of God. Whein I gave my heart to God, jesus. When I was filled with the Baptis act 2-4. Those ar the most precious moments of my life. I was happy as a child even if I had to work, I had both daddy and mother's love How do I know, when I was so sink both cried afraid I was going to die. I had 7 sisters each and every one love me dearly. Fhebe, ester, mae, Rachel, Anna, Mila and Ada from home.
I was Oh so happy when the boys came home from the service, Laurence the navy ?Glenn the Army during the vietnam war. James and tex from the army although they are not my boys.
I was happy to move on the farm but I had so much heart ache out there that took the joy away.

I was always happy to see Uncle Gus come and stay with mother. He was mothers brother. I was happy to help people, cooking donuts, pie's, cookies etc. expecially when the church had a bak sale, anythng god wanted me to do. I was happy when I had enough food for my childrne and didn't have to worry about the going without. I'm always goad to see them come home for a visit. I'm happy for my health. Will aol of my children and grandchildren is a blesing to me. Vernon was here for awhile this winter. I am happy I can go to church and learn more about my Lord and he answers my prayer. I'm happy in my litt home. I've made lot of mystakes but God has forgave. Hope my children have too.‎
